We are a group of archaeologists and computer scientists interested in computer-assisted decipherment of Scripts from the Ancient Near East (SANE). We analyze undeciphered texts written in the proto-Elamite and proto-cuneiform scripts, and develop computational tools to assist the experts who work with these texts. Our workgroup formed as part of a collaboration between the Natural Language Lab at the SFU School of Computing Science and the SFU Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology.
